Character Interviews + Contest: I'm Not Her by Janet Gurtler

Instead of having just one character from Janet Gurtler's fantastic book I'm Not Her stop by, I asked a few characters and Janet herself the same set of questions. So check out their answers, see their different personalities, and then stick around to enter for your chance to win a copy of the book!


If you could kiss anyone, no matter if it's from your story or a movie, another book, etc., who would it be? 

Janet- OMG. I am so old, and so married, therefore in order to preserve the sanctity of my marriage, let’s go way back to when I was the same age (ish) as Tess. The boy who I most wanted to kiss was REX SMITH from this amazingly romantic movie called Sooner or Later. OMG. It’s an old movie, but totally worth watching. Rex was my pretend boyfriend. And I would have kissed him until my lips chapped off. 

Tess- I totally don’t want to kiss Nick, I don’t care what Janet tells you. Obviously she makes things up all the time. 

Kristina- Edward. From the movie, not the book. Enough said. 

Nick- I’d make out with that chick from Gossip Girl. 


What is your personal theme song?  

Janet- My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson  

Tess- On My Own by Hedley 

Kristina- Everybody Hurts by Avril Lavigne  

Nick- Raise your Glass by Pink 


What is the one thing you want to do in life, with no repercussions, costs, etc.?

 Janet- I want to be a grandmother to my son’s babies. But he’s only ten, so let’s give him fifteen years or so. 

Tess- I want to be the featured artist in famous galleries around the world. 

Kristina- I want to run on both my legs, as fast and as far as I can until I can’t go another step further. 

Nick- I want to graduate university and get a great job so I can afford a nice house in a nice neighbourhood and make sure my sister is looked after. 


If you were a demigod, what god/goddess would be your parent and why? 

Janet- I’d really rather not be a demi-god at this point in my life.  

Tess- Posideon. So I could stop some of the madness going on in the world with earthquakes and tsumai’s and other disasters. 

Kristina- I have no idea who any of these gods or goddesses are. 

Nick- Not so into those mythology dudes but I guess I’d pick the head guy. Zeus? Then I could make the rules.


What kind of cake/confection would you describe yourself as?

Janet- Banana Bread with nuts. 

Tess- Carrot Cake. No icing.  

Kristina- I used to be birthday cake. Now I’m cobbler.  

Nick- Flaming Rum cake.
