Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.
This week's pick is I'm Not Her by Janet Gurtler, coming May 1 from Sourcebooks Fire.
Summary: “For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel envy…”
Tess is the exact opposite of her beautiful, athletic sister. And that’s okay. Kristina is the sporty one, Tess is the smart one, and they each have their place. Until Kristina is diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly Tess is the center of the popular crowd, everyone eager for updates. There are senior boys flirting with her. Yet the smiles of her picture-perfect family are cracking and her sister could be dying. Now Tess has to fill a new role: the strong one. Because if she doesn’t hold it together, who will?
Janet Gurtler tests the bonds of sisterhood in this moving debut that readers of Jodi Picoult and Sarah Dessen will savor.
My Thoughts: This one seems like it most definitely will be incredibly intense, but still have plenty of sweet moments and light fun. I'm assuming this one is a very character driven novel, which are my personal favorite. I love how simple the premise is, but still holds so much promise. The cover is catchy and pretty, making me think of a girly/sisters kind of book but with the torn off petals everywhere, makes me wonder about the harder stuff the book holds.
I have seen this around, nice pick. Hope you get to enjoy it soon.

Oh, this sounds like a great book. Great WoW choice.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an interesting story. It must be tough to suddenly be the center of the attention, only thanks to the fact your sister has cancer.
