Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.
This week's pick is The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin, coming September 7 from Simon & Schuster.
Summary: Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a
hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember
that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been
through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.
My Thoughts: That is one of the most simply written premises that packs a powerful punch. Instantly, I want to know about the accident, about her life before, what is really going on, and of course, about the falling in love. With no hints as to the love interest, I'm even more curious. There is just so many questions with this, but I am betting the answers are fantastic. Then there's the cover, dark and creepy with an old time kind of beauty to it. Boy with arms wrapped around girl? Sexy. Boy and girl underwater? Interesting. I love the dark green, and this is definitely one that would catch my eye in store. It's dark, but in a softer kind of way than a lot of the covers out there right now.
