Character Interview + Contest: James from My Not-so-Still Life

Popping in today is James, charming bad boy in Liz Gallagher's My Not-so-Still Life, to answer a few questions and bring you guys a contest. And because it makes me giggle, we've even got a Vanessa themed make up kit for you. But first, James!

Describe yourself in three words.

Laid-back. Artistic. Independent.

What was your first impression of Vanessa? Holly?

I remember the first time I saw Vanessa. I noticed her pink hair right away. She was interviewing for a job at Palette, and I knew Oscar would hire her. She looked really eager. I kind of wondered how old she was. I've never met Holly. I don't know what we'd talk about … it's cool that she's so into her cello, though. Vanessa always seemed really proud when she'd talk about Holly.

If you could tell Vanessa any one thing, what would it be?

I think it would have to be that she's not quite as grown up as she thinks she is. She's really kind of naïve. But she'll grow into herself.

If you could plan your perfect date, what would happen?

If it's summer, we'd go surfing. If winter, snowboarding. I'd take photos of the girl and everything along the way. We'd drink beers. We'd definitely hook up.

Boxers or briefs?

Boxers! When I wear anything under my jeans.

If you were a demigod, what god/goddess would be your parent?

Dionysus because he's all about having a good time. That's if I take after my parent, of course.

What kind of shoe would you describe yourself as?

Definitely something scuffed up, but still awesome. A boot, I think. A worn-in motorcycle boot. But some days, I'm really more of a plastic flip-flop.

Thank you, James, for those lovely answers.

  1. I think my jaw was kind of hanging open for most of that interview...
(Is laid-back only counted as one word?)
