Author Interview + Giveaway: Michelle Zink

To celebrate the release of Guardian at the Gate, the anticipated next book in her Prophecy series, Michelle Zink has been kind enough to answer a few questions! Stay tuned after the interview for your chance to win a copy of these books.

If you found yourself in Lia's position, trying to ignore the pull of something much stronger, how do you think you'd react and would you have the strength to resist?

I do! I'm a rebel at heart, and I've spent my life doing things my way. I've reinvented myself over and over when I've felt the need, and nothing make me more determined to do something than having someone tell me I CAN'T or shouldn't.

In your research for this series, what was the most interesting thing you found out?

The things that most intrigued me about the story had to do with the biblical legend of the Watchers/Lost Souls. I've always been a sucker for angel/demon mythology, and I really enjoyed digging into the legends about various angels and demons.

If you could pair Alice and Lia with any characters from any book, who would you pick for each?

I would probably pair Lia with Seth from Wicked Lovely because I think she could use a bit of a bad boy. Alice is tougher! Probably Heathcliff from Withering Heights. It would be interesting to watch the fallout of so much darkness!

Can you share something about Lia or Alice that didn't make it into the first book?

Anything that didn't make it into the first book will be seen in Guardian of the Gate or book three. And I couldn't possibly spoil any surprises! ;)

What is the most private thing you're willing to share here?

The internet makes me angsty. If it weren't for all the people I've come to know and love online, I'd cancel all my public profiles and never look back. But I'd miss you all too much, so I just deal with the parts that make me emo.

What is something illegal you've fantasized about doing but know you never will do?

Pulling off a major, movie-type heist. I value my freedom too much to actually do it (prison wouldn't be good for someone like me!), but how awesome would it be to have the expertise and guts to plan and pull off a big bank, jewelry, or art robbery?!

What kind of cookie would you describe yourself as?

Something like an oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cranberry. So much going on in a cookie like that! It would take some time to really get a handle on all the flavors.

Thanks so much Michelle, and congrats on another release! For your chance to win a hardback of Prophecy of the Sisters and an ARC of Guardian at the Gate, fill out this form. Contest is US/Canada mailing addresses only and ends Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 6 pm CST.
