Mini Challenge Contest: Character Mishmash!

As part of Princess Bookie's contest craze, I'm hosting one of the mini challenges. And in Kari style, I'm turning my Ladies and Their Tramps feature over to you guys! What does that mean? You have to come up with a new YA couple, using characters from two different books!

Characters: Harlin from Suzanne Young's A Need so Beautiful and Kendall from Mindi Scott's Freefall.

Why: Harlin is the bad boy with the mushy inside. Quiet and intense, sweet and sexy. Kendall is fiery and can hold her own. Intricate and intelligent. She would be able to handle Harlin's bad boy side, and embrace the rest of him. He'd protect her, she'd pretend to let him while really protecting him back. They'd have a certain passion and intensity about them that would just explode.

See? Easy. Just give me the characters and their books, and why you think they'd make a great couple. Maybe they are completely polar opposites, or maybe just the right person to complete the picture. Have fun, be creative!

What can you win? Either a preorder of A Need so Beautiful (out in late June), or a copy of Freefall.

To enter, just leaving a comment telling what characters you'd couple together and why. They can be from any YA book, whether it's not yet out or has been out for awhile. Also leave your email so I can contact you if you win!

This contest IS international, so long as The Book Depository delivers to you. There will be two winners, one for each book.

Contest ends March 28.

  1. That was sooo much fun! Here is my post:)

  2. This is ingenious! I am off to make my post...

  3. Here is is!

    Thanks for hosting this. :)

  4. Hmmm. I think I'd pair Cal from the Hex Hall series with Juliet from Before I Fall. Juliet could certainly use Cal's confidence and reassurances, and Cal would get fulfillment from being able to help someone who needs it so badly.

    Great idea!

  5. I would pick Sam from Shiver (because he is a quiet, sensitive, musical boy) and Varen from Nevermore (because he is a quiet, sensitive, emo boy). Swoony, swoony love!

  6. I paired Calla from Nightshade and Jag from Possession :)

  7. I think Jamie from Sarah Rees Brennan's DEMON'S LEXICON with Tony from Ellen Hopkin's IMPULSE.

(Okay, so really I'd pair Jamie and Johnny, but since you're one of an elite tribe who know him, I'll stick with Tony, who I also adore.)

  8. I'd like to see Donia from the Wicked Lovely series with Prince Ash from The Iron Fey series I'd love to see the two winter fey together.

  9. Hmmm. Shane from Morganville with this little character named Laina from a story I am frantically scribbling... I mean - erm...

  10. I would love to pair Jace wayland (mortal instruments) and Jess Mastriani(vanished), because they both have a powerful attitudes and I like them to mix with each other. It would be fun both stubborn people;))

  11. In this ultimate fanfic crossover? I'd love to see Ky Markham from Matched paired with Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games. They both have that wariness, that ability to sneak in under the radar until suddenly they can't, but Ky still has the ability to form connections, which would be a good influence on Katniss. Those two could kick major butt together.

  13. Vee from Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick would be great with Balthazar from Claudia Gray's Evernight series. Get past the vampire thing - and hey, her bff is dating an angel - and he would be such a good match for her. He's protective and smart, and I bet he would be able to calm her down a bit. And she would encourage him to just play and have fun!

  14. I'm curious about a Rose (Vampire Academy) and Jace (City of Bones) pairing :)

  15. Jace wayland (mortal instruments) and Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games). I think it would be a fun couple.

    Thanks for the chance :)

  16. This is hard, but I would probably pair Cedric Diggory of the Harry Potter series [I never really liked Cho (his girlfriend)] with Lindsay from An Abundance of Katherines (although I really like her and Colin together). I don't know that I have much of a reason for it. I suppose I think Cedric needs a new girl, and I think Lindsay would be cute with him.

I do agree with The Itzel Library though: Jace and Katniss would a really entertaining couple.

Fantastic contest and a creative idea too! Thank you so much. =)

  17. Suze (Mediator series) and Dmitrij (Vampire Academy) would make an interesting couple...

  18. Ooh! This is hard :)
Um I think Johanna from the Hunger Games and Damon from the Vampire Diaries. It sounds kind of wierd, but if you think about it, their personalities really collaborate well. Damon and Johanna would both be really glad to have someone who could match him in both appearances (as if false appearances; they both like to appear as if they're someone they're not) and cunning.

  19. Adrian Ivashkov from the Vampire Academy series and Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger games trilogy 'cause Katniss is somehow similar to Rose. They are both brave girls that are willing to fight for what they know is right. And I would love to see Adrian love again and get his heart mended.

Thank you for this giveaway! :)

  20. I would couple Alex from Perfect Chemistry and Jess from the 1800 Where Are U series by meg cabot

  21. Ah, I'll say Katniss and Elder from Across the Universe? Why? Because they're both leaders and will get into a lot of fights! It'l be funny.

    I'd like Freefall.

  22. I think I'd go with Kylie from Born at Midnight and Shay from Nightshade because Shay seems like a happy medium between Derek and Lucas, and Shay obviously has a thing for blondes.

  23. I would love to see Xander from Matched paired with Evie from Paranormalcy. I think Evie would appreciate Xander more than Cassia ever did. They are both sweet and kind and would make a cute couple!
