Author Interview: Angie Smibert

Today's guest of honor is Angie Smibert, the woman behind Memento Nora, to answer a few questions!

If you found yourself in Nora's position, what do you think you would do? Anything different?

In some ways, Nora is braver than I was at 15. She has more to lose in terms of popularity, status, and
approval. (I was a nerd girl.) I don’t want to give too much away, but if I’d found out what Nora found out at the TFC, I’m not sure what I would have done. I’d like to think I would have done what Nora did—and maybe even more—but sometimes you don’t know until you’re in that situation. Does that answer the question without giving away too many plot details?

You're stuck in a jail cell for a night! Which one of your book characters would you want with you?

Winter would be a fascinating companion—plus she might figure out to get out the cell.

If you could pair Nora with any character from any book, who would your pick be and why?

He’s not from a book, but I think Nora needs to travel with the Doctor (the David Tennant one) for a while. After what I put her through, she needs to visit a universe where injustice does get cleaned up at the end of the hour.

If you were a demigod, what god/goddess would be your parent?

I’m kind of a no-nonsense (yet, smart-a**) know-it-all who’s not a girlie-girl. So, I’m thinking Athena might be my mother.

What kind of cake/confection would you describe yourself as?

Licorice. It’s not everyone’s favorite, but if you really like it, you love it.

Or maybe a chocolate croissant. Crunchy on the outside, with lots of flaky layers and a dark, gooey
center.

Thank you, Angie, for those answers! Mmm... now I need to go find myself a chocolate croissant!

Make sure you guys check out Memento Nora, out April 28!
